This strongly articulated 32-story apartment tower was an early and important high-rise pioneer in the Yorkville section of the Upper East Side.
The building has a plaza with retail frontage on 86th Street and it is set back in extensive landscaping behind an attractive fence on Second Avenue and has an impressive, landscaped entrance with a driveway on the sidestreet.
The neighborhood has undergone widespread redevelopment since this building was erected in 1971. The 258-unit building, which has a concierge and a garage as well as a rooftop health club and swimming pool, was converted to a cooperative in 1980.
A block south of Elaine's, the famous restaurant, the building is convenient to many movie theaters, restaurants and stores. Crosstown buses run very frequently on 86th Street and an express subway station is not far away at Lexington Avenue and 86th Street.
Many of the apartments have balconies and most have good views.
